Where to Stay

Roho Ya Selous

Roho ya Selous is in the heart of Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous) on a small peninsula overlooking Lake Nzerakera. With just eight canvas-tented rooms, each with air-cooling systems over your bed to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep. Relax in the open-sided, canvas-roofed dining or lounge areas while reading a book or watching the wildlife around the lake. In the afternoons, take a dip in the pool and gather around the campfire before dinner. Nyerere has a marshy landscape of palm trees, lakes and rivers and is home to elephants, buffalos, lions, hippos, and leopards as well as the largest populations of wild dogs on the continent. Despite the excellent game, this is a less frequented reserve that feels rather intimate, and untouched. Roho means ‘heart’ in Swahili, and you’ll feel the pulse here.
